Growing With MPS: From Apprentice to Leader
Discover how Robert G. grew from apprentice to leader at MPS, and how employee ownership, culture, and opportunity shape careers at MPS.
Growing With MPS: From Apprentice to Leader, Robert’s Story
At MPS, growth is built on people who grow with the company. Robert G.’s journey, which began in 2011, reflects how opportunity, ownership, and culture come together to shape long‑term careers.
When Robert joined MPS as a third‑year apprentice, he immediately noticed that this was not a typical electrical shop.
“I knew what I was working on was a part of something big,” Robert said.
At the time, MPS was working out of a smaller fabrication shop in Denison. Even with a limited footprint, the scale of the work stood out. Large, complex projects gave early team members a sense that they were contributing to something meaningful and long‑term.
Growing Facilities and Evolving Processes
As MPS continued to expand, the company moved into the 5104 facility in Sherman in 2013. Compared to the Denison shop, the new space felt massive and marked a major milestone in the company’s growth.
With expansion came continued refinement of how work was planned, executed, and supported. Over time, MPS became more structured and intentional, focusing on efficiency, consistency, and continuous improvement.
Leadership, Ownership, and the Future
Today, Robert’s role has evolved significantly. He now supports leadership initiatives, training development, audits, and cross‑facility collaboration as MPS continues to grow.
As an employee‑owned company, MPS encourages employees to take an active role in improving operations and culture.
When Robert started, MPS employed just over 20 people. Today, the company has grown to more than 180 employees across multiple locations, with continued expansion ahead.
For Robert, the reason he has stayed with MPS for more than a decade remains simple.
“At the root of it, it’s the people.”
